In the Books...

Well, after a long hectic week of planning and picking up the last minute items and prizes we pulled it off!  Simple Transport 3 is in the record books.  88 high quality air-cooled Volkswagens and 20 swappers were on hand to help make our third year our largest and most successful show.  The crowd was treated to a BMX dirt jumping demo, a tattoo contest, and chances at winning several door prizes including a ride in the Quickest Street Legal air-cooled beetle on the East Coast!

The countdown...
By the amount of response we've received, ST 3 is going to be "off the Hook"!  Caravans from all over the East Coast, some very rare and unique vehicles and bicycles, and a great looking forecast.  Check out our Samba Thread (link on this page) for a public discussion forum.

The countdown begins....

Heading into the month of August...hope your projects are ready to go!

We have one update since the fliers went out.  After receieving some interest from a local scooter club to allow motorized scooters into the show, we've decided to add a scooter class (49cc and below) since they fit into the "Simple Transport" theme.  Cost is $5 per scooter including rider.  Top 3 vote getters will receive awards.

If you or anyone that you know is willing/able to help out during the event (front gate, t-shirt sales, raffle ticket sales, etc) or you have new or interesting items that you would donate for our raffle, please contact us and let us know.  CLICK HERE TO EMAIL

Thanks and we'll see you there!

Pre-Show Activities

The Tri-State area is chocked full of Air-Cooled VW enthusiasts!  Some of our supporters/sponsors are:

Cookers VW Restorations -  Bob Cook is the owner/operator of this Automobile restoration business.  He specializes in all types of air-cooled VW's especially split buses and pre-67 beetles.  I'd venture to say he has the most experience and knowledge of these cars in the Mid-Atlantic region if not the entire East Coast!  What was once a past-time hobby and part-time business has grown into his full time occupation!  You may have noticed him mentioned on several Hot VWs features during the past two years, or you may have seen one of his creations around the country on the show circuit or drag race circuit.

AJ Kustoms- Joe and Amy Bausman have been VW enthusiasts since they met in 1986!  They have shared their enthusiasm in their marriage and behind the wheel of one of their many vintage ACVW's.  The dedication to the hobby doesn't stop there as the Bausman's entire house carries the VW theme as well.  Check out their website for just a sampling or contact them directly for a personal tour.  I doubt that you'll find a more enthusiastic pair ANYWHERE, Just ask Rich Kimball who continually features their VW themed Christmas cards each year!

Sharrett Volkswagen -  Sharrett is the second oldest continually run Volkswagen dealer in the USA, which means that your air-cooled VW could have been sold there years ago!  They have expanded over the years to include several brands but still specialize in VW's and it's not an uncommon site to spot an Air-cooled VW in their showroom!

Click on the names above to contact them for a pre or post show tour

Welcome to our new site!

Welcome to Simple-Transport.com

The idea of Simple-Transport came about during the winter of 2007 as a collaborative effort between Matt Nutter and myself.  We have been into both Air-Cooled Volkswagens and bicycles of all types for a long time.  The show is held annually in August and is used as a fund-raiser for Hagerstown BMX, a local non-profit organization.  2010 will be our third year and we hope that the show will continue to grow as the years go on. As with every event, it would not be possible without the volunteers and participantswho put in countless hours either in event preparation or in the garage countin' down til show time!

We've created this site for up to date information on our annual Air-cooled VW and bicycle show.  Be patient as we continue to add information and features.  Add us to your bookmarks and check back often as new details emerge.

If you have questions or suggestions please CONTACT US
